No you didn't read that wrong it wasn't suppose to say resolutions. Although the concept I am about to set forth is the same I am protesting calling it a resolution because that just means I'll quit in a month and feel like a failure and all of that negativeness. So to avoid the negative connotation surrounding resolution I've decided to just change it to Revelations.... in that I've had these revelations about shit I think I should change so here is what they are and how I plan to do that. Smart eh?
First, I need to read more. I love to read but I hate reading and having to stop every page because a kid needs me, BUT i'd like to read anyway so I'm just going to go with it, read before bed, read when kids are napping, read in the car (not while driving of course) something but I need to read more. So I had a revelation (hee hee) that if I set a goal for reading 50 books for pleasure that this might help me achieve that. I need goals yo, and without something pushing me I'd likely decide oh January 12th that screw it who's counting anyway?!
Next I want to lose weight but WAIT!!! everyone makes thatresolution revelation and how many of us are stuffing our face with twinkies by Feb 1st. So screw that. Why set myself up for failure right? So fuck my weight (sorry for those none cursing folks out there). Instead I am setting out to get fit and complete some races. In fact I want to do 12 races this year and at least one of those to be a triathlon and one to be a half marathon. Both of which I have already signed up for. I figure whatever weight will come or go as it please but if I'm running 13.1 miles I can have a fricking twinkie and screw whoever says otherwise.
Lastly I would like to start scrapbooking so I don't forget our lives that are passing by all too quickly. I am going to have a 13 year old THIS YEAR! WhatTHEWhat??!! I know! So this year I plan on doing a scrapbook for the year that includes a project 365... if I happen to get started on a scrapbook for each of the kids then bonus points for me. :)
So here we have it. I think this covers the major changes I want to make. What are your revelations? ;)

Mine are nearly the same!
ReplyDeleteThe book thing isn't much of a concern for me... I read at work, so I read about 50+ hours a week. In 2011 I finished 109 books I think.
But... having a Kindle makes such a difference! I can carry 400 books in my purse at all times, never getting stuck without the next one to read.
Weight loss is a constant battle for me.
And Lilian is almost 3.5 years old and not a single photo album exixsts of her! *gasp* I guess that's when the digital age sucks. I majorly need to get started on that.
